Fiamma offer 2 models of roof support rafter for their wind out awnings called Rafter and Rafter Pro. We often get asked “What’s the difference between the Rafter and Rafter Pro".
Both versions of the Rafter are suitable for Fiamma F45, F65 and F80 awnings, they’re both telescopic and are both designed to strengthen the awning structure and prevent the awning fabric from sagging and pooling water when it rains.
The difference is that the standard Fiamma Rafter is straight, whereas the Rafter Pro is curved.
The straight standard Rafter sits just below the awning roof and doesn’t create an apex so it can be used in any temperature. If you want to create a run off to shed rain water you can always slightly lower one leg of your Fiamma awning so the roof sits at an angle.
The curve in the Rafter Pro pushes the canopy fabric up and creates an apex in the awning roof. This can help water to run off the awning roof in rainy conditions. However, in very hot weather and direct sunlight the Rafter Pro can begin to stretch the awning fabric slightly with prolonged use. So care should be taken and the Rafter Pro should not be used in very hot conditions.
Use the standard Fiamma Rafter anytime to strengthen your awning, and lower one awning leg to create a water run off.
Use the Fiamma Rafter Pro if it’s not too hot. It’s especially useful for awnings on lower vans where lowering one awning leg would bring the awning roof down too far.
