Fiamma Privacy Rooms are sets of wall panels and poles which allow you to turn your Fiamma canopy into an enclosed room providing privacy and shelter outside your caravan or motorhome. For most of their awnings Fiamma produce 2 types of privacy room called Privacy Room and Privacy Room Light. But, what's the difference/ And which one should you get?
The wall panels on the standard Privacy Room are made from PVC whereas the panels of the Privacy Room Light versions are made from Polyester.
The PVC used in the standard Privacy Room is an impermeable sheet. It is thicker and heavier and doesn't absorb moisture. This means it is more durable and most mud and rain water can easily be wiped off if it gets wet or dirty.
The Polyester used in Privacy Room Light models is a woven material more like the fabric used in dome tents and some breathable, waterproof clothing. It doesn't let water through into the awning so it will keep you dry, but the material itself can absorb moisture. This means you need to hang the panels to dry if they get wet. However, these panels fold up smaller and weigh less than PVC panels.
Most versions* of the standard Privacy Room include rear, upright poles to press the edge of the side panel against the side of caravan or motorhome. They also include soft foam pads to ensure the pole doesn't mark or damage the vehicle wall.
*Some standard Privacy Rooms for metal vans don't include these poles since they won't form to the shape of the curved van wall. Some Privacy Room have magnets to hold the panel against the van instead. Check Privacy Room details to confirm.
Privacy Room Light versions don't come with the rear upright poles. Instead, they have an elasticated cord at the edge of the side panel. This cord hooks to the awning at the top and pegs to the ground at the bottom to pull the panel against the side of the vehicle. You can sometimes purchase the rear poles at an extra cost but you can't fit the foam pads to Privacy Room Light.
Because the PVC panels on the standard Privacy Room are heavier than the Polyester panels used on the Privacy Room Light, and the standard Privacy Room usually includes extra poles, the standard Privacy Room is heavier, however, it is also more durable.
When deciding which version is for you consider how much you will use the Privacy Room as well as how much storage space you have. If you're close to your vehicle's MTPLM it's also worth noting that the Privacy Room Light usually weighs about half as much as the equivalent standard Privacy Room.
Now you understand the difference between the Privacy Room and Privacy Room Light use the table below to see which versions are available to fit your canopy and decide which one you want. Find your awning model in the left column and look across the table to see what Privacy Room options you have.
