Fiamma produces 2 different types of Tie Down straps for their awnings. But what’s the difference? Which Tie Down should you be using? And Which Fiamma Tie Down fits your awning?
Awning Tie Down kits are straps which provide your awning with additional support in bad weather. They anchor your awning more securely to the ground and should prevent movement of the frame and fabric.
Fiamma’s standard Tie Down Kit consists of a single strap. This kit can be used with Fiamma’s roll-out and wind-out awnings as well as traditional caravan awnings from other brands. The single strap pegs down at one side of the awning, goes up and over the awning frame, and the other end of the strap is pegged at the opposite side of the awning.
On traditional caravan awnings the strap goes completely over the top of the awning canvas as well to anchor the whole awning. On Fiamma awnings the Tie Down goes over the awning arms, but under the fabric. Because the Tie Down straps sticks out at the side of the awning this kit can’t be used when side panels are fitted to your awning.
The Fiamma Tie Down S has 2 straps instead of just one. You fit one strap to each end of the awning and peg them away from the awning. This has the advantage of anchoring the frame as well as tensioning the fabric to reduce its movement in wind.
The kit comes with special clips to fit to the front bar of your awning model so it’s important to get the right one for your awning.
The Tie Down S also comes with the buckles to clip to the Fiamma Privacy Room so it can still be used when you have panels or a Privacy Room fitted.
Use the standard Fiamma Tie Down if you have a traditional caravan awning, or if your awning pitch doesn’t allow space for straps which stick out from the awning away from the caravan.
Use the Tie Down S to tension the roof fabric as well as secure the frame. This version still fits to Fiamma awnings when you have panels or a Privacy Room fitted. Just make sure to get the right version for your awning model.
